Who is the woman in the River Moon Wellness logo?
At River Moon Wellness, everything we produce, down to our branding, aligns with our mission to provide natural ways to renew your energy and bring a sense of equilibrium back into your everyday life. When making our logo, we asked ourselves, what/who could embody our purpose and represent our pure hemp way of living?
The answer came surprisingly easy. Why not the Goddess herself?

Magu the Hemp Goddess
Magu, or hemp maiden in the literal translation, is the Goddess of healing, protector of women, and the usher of the new cycles of the earth. She is revered in the Taoism of Chinese, Korean and Japanese culture as the guardian of Mount Tai, the sacred place of healing cannabis.
As narrated in ancient Chinese culture, she once walked this earth as a kind, beautiful mortal who helped those in need. She worked as a seamstress and used her earnings to provide for herself and her father.
After coming across an elderly woman, Magu offered her a peach, formerly gifted to her as payment for her services. The woman kindly accepted, and Magu ran home to make the elderly woman some food.
When she arrived home, her father became angry at Magu for giving the peach away and locked her away in her room.
By the time Magu was able to return to the place where she had met the elderly woman, the woman was gone, and all that was left was the seed of the peach she had given her.
Magu took this peach seed and planted it into the ground, and out of the earth grew a healing tree, whose fruit she used to heal the sick. She ascended into Goddesshood for creating the “elixir of life.”

Our logo comes from our inspiration of the moon, whose astrological energy surrounds us, and the natural life-giving elements of mother earth. The Goddess Magu embraced by the moon symbolizes the balance of feminine energy, healing, and the sensory experience that we strive to provide in all of our products.
An added bonus to the design can be found in the outer silhouette of the image as well. By looking with peripheral vision, you may be able to make out the capitalized ‘G’ which stands for one of the co-founders, Geoffrey Schodde!
